Facts about Amoxil Antibiotic:
Amoxil is a powerful antibiotic medication commonly used for treatment of patients with common infections such as; ear infections, strep throat, pneumonia and sinusitis.
It is also sometimes prescribed for other not so common infections like; urinary tract infection and gonorrhea.

Amoxil in any form need be kept refrigerated, but refrigeration is preferable.
Amoxil Side Effects:
Like most prescription drugs, Amoxil also has side effects such as; vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and pseudomembranous colitis. Less common side effects are hepatitis, anemia, crystalluria, agitation, insomnia, anxiety, confusion, convulsion, dizziness, reversible hyperactivity and some behavioral changes.
Children taking Amoxil Antibiotic may also experience hypersensitivity or some allergic reactions that may include:
Erythema muliforme – a skin condition of unidentified cause, probably interceded by deposition of immune complex in the exterior microvasculature of the skin and oral mucous membrane, which frequently follows an infection or drug exposure.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome – is a life-threatening condition that affects the skin wherein cell death causes the epidermis to break up from the dermis.
Expoliative dermatitis – is a widespread form of erythema and scaling of the skin caused by preexisting skin disease, drugs, cancer, or unknown causes.
Toxic epidermal necrolysis – is also known as Lyell’s syndrome and it is a rare, life-threatening dermatological condition, just like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, that is usually induced by a reaction to medications. It is also characterized by the detachment of the epidermis from the dermis all over the body.
Hypersensitivity vasculitis – also called leukocytoclastic vasculitis is a histopathologic term normally used to refer to a small vessel vasculitis.
Urticaria – also called hives, is an allergic disorder and it is a kind of skin rash distinguished for pale red, raised, itchy bumps.
Precaution:
You have to know that not every rash that your child may develop while taking Amoxil Antibiotic is going to be caused by an allergic reaction. You need to see a Pediatrician before you blame it on an allergy. If your child gets turned out to be allergic to Amoxil, then this medication should be stopped.
